Bridging the Digital Divide: Meet Shola Kenny!

A dedicated advocate for digital inclusion, Victor Olushola Kehinde, better known as Shola Kenny, stands at the heart of Africa’s tech transformation. With over 15 years of experience in IT, Shola has worn many hats: certified network engineer, product owner, social entrepreneur, and now IT Business Relationship Manager at the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). But beyond the technical credentials, what truly defines his path is a passion for using technology as a tool for empowerment.

Shola’s journey with World Computer Exchange (WCE) began with a recommendation from the WiderNet Project USA, which recognized his impactful work in digital access across Nigeria. As a Field Associate for both organizations, he became a powerful bridge between global initiatives and local communities, working to ensure that young people could access the tools and knowledge they needed to succeed.

“WCE’s mission isn’t just about technology—it’s about changing lives,” says Shola. One of Shola’s proudest accomplishments was launching Inspire Girls, a WCE-backed initiative to introduce young Nigerian girls to web development. In its first bootcamp in 2021, 30 girls transformed from beginners to confident digital creators, each building their own website. For Shola, the moment marked more than a program milestone, it was a testament to what happens when purpose meets action.

Beyond WCE, Shola’s commitment to the tech-for-good movement continues through TechExpo Africa, a platform he founded in 2019. The pan-African initiative brings together tech professionals, students, entrepreneurs, and changemakers to explore emerging innovations, collaborate, and solve pressing challenges. With the next conference scheduled for November 2025 in Ghana, Shola is more committed than ever to creating space for Africa’s brightest minds to connect.

When asked what advice he would give to young people looking to make an impact, his answer is both simple and powerful: “Stay consistent, stay curious, and never stop learning. Start small, focus on impact, and keep growing. Real change comes from persistence.”From rural schools in Nigeria to global conferences, Shola Kenny’s work continues to remind us that bridging the digital divide takes vision, heart, and relentless dedication.
